Cassina High Helping Student Who Lost Family And Belongings In Fire

Thursday, February 28, 2008 - 01:30 PM
Jamestown mobile home fire that caused two fatalities (2/27/08).

Sonora, Ca -- Cassina High School will host a benefit car wash Friday for 16-year-old Cody Wright, who tragically lost two members of his family, his dog and all of his belongings as a result of the Tuesday morning mobile home fire on Chicken Ranch Rd.

“All of the money raised will go toward whatever Cody needs,” says Cassina High Counselor Ruth Burke.

Students have been making posters and placing them at local businesses around Sonora to raise awareness about the benefit event. Burke notes that one student also designed a donation box and began taking it around campus on Wednesday. Many students donated extra money they had, and some decided to give Cody gift cards to local businesses.

Friday's benefit car wash will run from noon until dark in the Cassina High parking lot. The school is located at 251 S. Baretta in Sonora.
