Strawberry, CA -- On Tuesday the Stanislaus National Forest's Summit Ranger District will begin a prescribed burn on sections of the 1,575 acre North Beardsley Underburn project, located approximately five miles northwest of Strawberry, along Forest Service Road 5N02.
The planned ignition is expected to last two days with approximately 300 acres ignited daily. Smoke will be visible in the area with some down canyon drift in the evening and early morning. The purpose of the project is to reduce the buildup of flammable forest fuels, and to reduce the threat of large damaging fires.
