San Andreas, Ca -- Calaveras, Amador and Alpine Counties have approved a list of projects that they will collectively work to complete over the next 20 years.
Calaveras Council of Governments Executive Director Tim McSorley says the two major items include the straightening of Hwy 4 between Copperopolis and Angels Camp (Wagon Trail) and improving a portion of Hwy 88 through Pine Grove. The total cost to complete the work over the next 20 years is estimated $150 million.
The three counties have been pooling together funding from the State Transportation Improvement Program for the past five years. One of the most recognized achievements was securing $61 million for the Hwy 4 Bypass around Angels Camp.
