"Skeeter Eater" Jumps To Victory

Angels Camp, Ca -- Jacob Smith of Fresno and his frog “Skeeter Eater” took first place in the Frog Jump competition at the Calaveras County Fair and Jumping Frog Jubilee Sunday afternoon.

“Skeeter Eater” jumped 19' 3 ½' in the final round. The World Record was set in 1986 by Rosie the Ribeter with a jump of 21' 5 ¾'.

Placing second was an entrant from Brandon Brooks of Sacramento, and finishing third was a frog belonging to Lisa Fasano of Alameda.

This marked the 80th anniversary of the jump which began in Angels Camp in 1928.
