Taphorn Charged With DUI Following Accident

San Andreas, CA -- 46 year old Cindi Taphorn of West Point was the driver of record in a single vehicle accident that occured Wednesday evening at 5:35 at Winton Rd. south of Hidden Valley Rd. in Calaveras County.

Taphorn was northbound on Winton Rd. at an unknown rate of speed when she left the roadway and struck a tree. She suffered major injuries and was hospitalized in Modesto.

47 year old Peggy Scheffner of Wilseyville also suffered major injuries. She was transported to Mercy San Juan Hospital in Sacramento. And 19 year old Danielle Scheffner, also of Wilseyville, suffered major injuries and was admitted to U.C. Davis Medical Center.

Taphorn was arrested for driving-under-the-influence. None of the three women was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.
