344 Firefighters Remain At North Mountain Fire

Saturday, July 05, 2008 - 09:30 AM

Groveland, Ca -- While the North Mountain Fire near Groveland is now 100% contained, Public Information Officer Dennis Cross says firefighters will remain on scene for at least the next week as they work to get the fire fully controlled.

Currently there are 344 firefighters assigned to the North Mountain Fire to put out hot spots and make sure that the containment lines hold.

“We do know that we have increased temperatures in the forecast, so until we have extinguished all of the interior hotspots we need to keep our guard up,” says Public Information Officer Dennis Cross.

Cross notes that the fire is not affecting traffic to or from Yosemite National Park. It is primarily located in an isolated area of the Groveland Ranger District of the Stanislaus National Forest.
