DMV Transmits First Batch of Car Tax RefundsTuesday, January 27, 2004 - 04:35 PM
The California Department of Motor Vehicles reports they've sent the first batch of car tax refunds to the state controller's office. The first 117 thousand recipients, roughly, will have their checks in the mail starting this Friday. 15.8 million dollars in refunds will be sent with this first batch.
On average, folks can look forward to a $135 check, although refunds can be several hundred dollars. DMV programmers are being credited for working long hours and reprogramming the computers to be ready for all the refunds. In the end, an estimated 600-million dollars will go back to vehicle owners in California.
