The California Highway patrol report two Calaveras county people were killed in separate crashes
Saturday a 70 year old Avery man was killed on Highway 4 east of Forest MEadows when his Ford Taurus drifted into on-coming traffic and was hit head-on by a Toyota Forerunner driven by Ed and Linda Rae of Murphys. They sustained major injuries and were trapped in their vehicle . Ebbetts Pass firefighters used the Jaws of Life to free them. The yet unidentified man was pronounced dead at the scene. Sunday, a 47 year old West Point man was killed on Highway 26 when he missed a curve and drove his 1994 Harley Davidson motorcycle off the road. The unidentified rider was thrown from the motorcycle and hit a chain control sign. He was killed in the crash. CHP officers report alcohol is suspected in the cause of the crash.
