Sonora, CA — The Sonora Police Department is on its way to becoming more technologically advanced thanks to a $148,000 grant from the United States Department of Justice Office of Community Oriented Policing Services.
Lieutenant Mark Stinson with the police department says the money will be utilized for a police dispatch upgrade, a wireless project to place Mobil Data Terminals in the patrol vehicles, an electronic connection project with the Tuolumne County District Attorney´s Office, and new digital cameras.
The funding for the projects will be available in October.
