Heat Takes Toll On Landscaping, Causing Fire Danger

Sonora, CA — Although the Mother Lode is experiencing cooler temperatures lately, July´s heat wave may have increased the potential for residential fires.

Clearing dead brush is a common practice for most Tuolumne County residents, but what about dead vegetation that appears to be alive?

CDF and Tuolumne County Fire officials say due to the extreme heat, landscaping near homes may be dead, creating a potential fire hazard.

Residents are encouraged to examine their bushes closely because even if the landscaping is dead, the leaves may still be green.
