O’Brynes Ferry Head-on Crash: A DUI

Jamestown, CA — A Jamestown woman was handcuffed after a head-on collision on O’Byrnes Ferry Road.

The nighttime crash recently occurred south of Old O’Byrnes Ferry Road. Kristine Shopp, 51, was driving a 1999 Acura TL sedan southbound on O’Byrnes Ferry Road at around 30-40 mph. At that same time, 77-year-old Victor Gin of Copperopolis was driving a 2005 Lexus SUV in the opposite direction at approximately 25-30 miles per hour along with his two passengers.

CHP spokesperson Officer Steve Machado reports, “Shopp allowed her vehicle to travel over the double yellow lines directly in the path of Gin’s vehicle. As a result, they collided head-on.”

Gin’s passenger, 76-year-old Mildred Poon of Castro Valley, sustained minor injuries. Machado added, “During the investigation, it was determined Shopp was driving while under the influence of an alcoholic beverage.”

Shopp was arrested and booked into the Tuolumne County Jail for felony DUI charges with the possibility of great bodily injury.
