Sonora, CA — 32 year old Daniel John O´Donnell was killed Sunday evening shortly after six o´clock while driving his 1999 Jeep Wrangler.
O´Donnell was driving his vehicle westbound on Hwy 108 approaching Herring Creek Rd. at a possibly excessive rate of speed. For unknown reasons, he allowed the Jeep´s right side wheels to drift off the pavement to the right while driving through a left-hand curve. He over-corrected to the left, causing the Jeep to veer back onto the roadway and overturn.
O´Donnell, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected and crushed underneath the Jeep as it came to rest upside down in the eastbound lane.
According to the Highway Patrol, alcohol is believed to be a contributing factor in this fatality.
