Firefighters Making Headway On Yosemite Fire

Yosemite National Park, CA — Yosemite National Park officials continue to battle the more than 480 acre fire that has been burning in the park since Monday.

Reports indicate more than 230 firefighters are assigned to the fire, which is located along the Ribbon Creek drainage between El Capitan and Ribbon Creek above the north rim of Yosemite Valley.

Over the past few days, firefighters have managed to contain 30% of the fire using nine hand crews, four helicopters, two engines, and six air tankers. Officials are reporting that the blaze was caused by an escaped camp fire.

A time or day of containment is not being speculated due to the heavy fuel on the forest floor.
