Calaveras County, CA – The Annual Roadside Weed Control Spraying is set to begin next week; the Calaveras Public Works Department details how to opt out.
Crews will begin spraying county roads on Monday, October 20, 2025. County public works officials state, “Roadside weed spraying is important to prevent weeds from encroaching on the edges of roads. This encroachment can obstruct drivers’ views, lead to road damage, and fuel wildfires. County staff typically sprays a 6-foot swath of land immediately next to roads twice annually.” The spraying activity is dependent on weather.”
For property owners who wish to opt out of spraying on specific sections of their parcels that border county-maintained roads, the following two steps are required:
