Murphys, CA — Charges have not been filed and an arraignment for those involved in the alleged illegal gambling at the Murphys Hotel has been delayed.
The Calaveras County District Attorney´s Office says Tuesday´s scheduled arraignment was postponed because the District Attorney is out of town.
A sting operation conducted by the state Department of Justice uncovered what it calls an illegal gambling operation at the hotel earlier this month.
Hotel owner Dorian Faught says it was a friendly game of poker.
Special Agent Marty Horan with the Division of Gambling Control says Faught and two of his employees were cited for Penal Code section 337j, conducting gambling without a license.
Faught says he didn´t think he was doing anything wrong.
The DA´s office has not filed charges pending an investigation into the Department of Justice´s case.
