San Andreas, CA — You may be charged a fee next time you go to get a burn permit from Calaveras County.
County officials will meet Monday in a study session to look at charging a $12 fee per permit to help recuperate costs of the burn permit program.
Residents wanting to burn on five acres or more need a permit from the county´s Air Pollution Control District.
A report from the county´s Environmental Management Agency says a methodical program has been implemented, which costs the county $20,000 to operate.
The Calaveras County Farm Bureau opposes the fee saying the cumulative impact of all fees on agriculture make it hard to do business.
The Board of Supervisors meet at 9 a.m., Monday at the county Government Center in San Andreas.
