Sonora, CA– Knowing how to put chains on tires during the winter season could be very handy, especially if it puts money in that wallet.
Those interested in becoming chain installers on Highways in Calaveras, Alpine, Amador, and Tuolumne Counties must attend an orientation on October 26th at 9am in the Caltrans Maintenance Office located on 98 South Main Street in Angels Camp.
Following the orientation there will be a written and performance exam. If applicants pass, they may purchase their permit and identification bib for $205. Calaveras County does require a business license for all applicants working on Highway 4.
Returning chain installers may purchase their new permit at the Main Street location as well. For more information call (209) 736-0187.
