Sacramento, CA — Residents of several southern California mountain communities in the path of the three-week-old Day Fire have been urged to leave their homes.
But most have chosen to remain. The northwest flank of the fire jumped a road Tuesday threatening hundreds of homes. C.D.F. officials say six unoccupied structures have been destroyed. The Day Fire is only 42% contained … it has burned 145,000 acres.
To the north of the Mother Lode, the Pigeon Fire in Trinity County has now burned 87,580 acres … it is only 36% contained.
