Murphys, CA — The Calaveras County District Attorney´s Office has decided that criminal charges will not be filed in the illegal gambling case against the Murphys Hotel.
A sting operation conducted by the state Department of Justice busted what it called an illegal poker game at the hotel in August.
Hotel owner Dorian Faught is still apologetic about the incident but says he´s ecstatic with the DA´s decision.
Faught maintains it was a friendly game of poker and he didn´t think he was doing anything wrong.
District Attorney Jeff Tuttle says most of the time in these cases his office allows the offender to abstain from the illegal activity or get the proper license.
Tuttle says Faught has been warned that he will be prosecuted for any future poker games without a license.
