Ventura County, CA — Firefighters battling the Day Fire in Ventura County hope to have it fully contained today.
Now 95 percent surrounded, the fire has burned approximately 254 square miles or 163,000 acres of brush and timber in the Los Padres National Forest.
Crews digging fire lines Sunday received a scare when a helitanker crashed while returning to pick up more fire retardant and water. The two pilots aboard walked away with only minor injuries.
The Pigeon Fire in Trinity County is now listed as 43 percent contained. It has burned almost 97,000 acres.
