Saturday Sting Nets Five Violators

Sonora, CA — Saturday may be an off-day for many but not the Tuolumne County Sheriff´s Department.

A sting was performed in cooperation with Alcoholic Beverage Control and the District Attorney´s Office. The purpose of the sting was curbing sales of alcoholic beverages to under-age buyers. The target of the sting, which used under-age decoys, was 25 “off sale” stores.

The five stores cited included the C&C Mini Mart and Tesoro of Jamestown, Out Post of Soulsbyville, Sonora Express Mart of Sonora, Fuel Depot of Sonora and the Sonora Mini Mart.

According to Corporal Tim Wertz, the citations issued were less than half of those issued when this type of sting operation was initiated three years ago.
