Solo-vehicle crash in the Valley Springs area of Calaveras County—CCF photo
Valley Springs, CA – One person was flown from the scene, and a family pet perished in a crash yesterday in the Valley Springs area of Calaveras County.
The solo-vehicle collision happened just after 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, on Heney Lane near Silver Rapids Road, north of Highway 26. When first responders, including a Calaveras Consolidated Fire (CCF) crew, arrived on the scene, they found the Ford SUV about 30 feet down an embankment and its front end crumpled after hitting a large pine tree. Additionally, check out this photo showing that the tree also fell on two vehicles parked in a driveway. It is unclear what, if any, damage there was to them.
Fire officials report that the driver sustained moderate injuries and was airlifted to a trauma center in the Valley. CCF added that there were two dogs inside the vehicle at the time of the wreck, and, sadly, “one did not survive the impact.” Although it was raining when the collision occurred, it is unclear if the weather played a role in the crash, as currently, officers from the San Andreas Unit of the CHP continue to investigate the cause.
