Sonora, CA– AAA officials say now is the time to talk with teen drivers about safe driving.
According to a new study from AAA, driving after school is nearly as dangerous as it is late at night on the weekends. They add that in an analysis of crash data involving 16- and 17- year old drivers, AAA found the number of fatalities Monday through Friday between 3pm and 5pm was almost as high as Friday and Saturday nights between 9pm and 2am.
Officials say that the increased crash risk during afternoon hours results in part from increased traffic on roads. AAA says to prevent fatal crashes; parents should set very clear driving rules with teens and enforce passenger restrictions.
They also recommend banning cell phone use and stressing the use of seat belts. For more information on teen driving go to www.CSAA.com
