Sonora, CA — The Sonora Police Department was able to re-unite a resident with their stolen vehicle this weekend.
A 1991 Chevy Blazer was reported stolen Sunday night at the Regal Cinemas. Just under 40 minutes later, at 9:59pm, the vehicle was spotted by an officer in the area of Gold and Stewart Streets.
Once the car was pulled over, the driver was detained and the other passenger took off by foot. After a search of the area, the passenger was eventually found and taken into custody.
The driver is identified as James Haire, age 19, of Columbia. The passenger was Nikita Ruelas, age 20, of Sonora. They were both booked into Tuolumne County Jail, and among other things, face charges of vehicle theft and possession of stolen property.
