Sonora, CA — Top item on the Tuolumne County Supervisors´ agenda today will be the continued public hearing to consider an ordinance amending Title 17 of the county´s ordinance code to modify the regulations pertaining to wireless communication facilities.
Bottom line; will the county relax restrictions that would allow for a greater number of cell phone towers to be constructed in the county? The discussion will start at 11am and a vote could be taken by the supervisors.
A month ago the supervisors passed on a vote because Chairperson Liz Bass was missing. Mark Thornton and Dick Pland respectively are in favor of relaxing the existing ordinance … Paulo Maffei is opposed to such a relaxation.
Regardless the outcome of the vote, Golden State Cellular General Manager Dan Rule says his company is only interested in building antennas on existing buildings to improve cell phone coverage … not constructing cell towers in the Mother Lode.
