Yosemite, Ca — After receiving an inch of rain on Tuesday, fire managers have declared an end to the 2006 wildland fire season in Yosemite National Park.
However, fire managers say they will continue to monitor weather patterns and implement additional prescribed fires as conditions permit.
According to the park, approximately 6,500 acres of wildland use fires were managed this season. They do point out that they were limited in their ability to set prescribed fires this season due to hot, dry temperatures and because of the air quality guidelines of surrounding counties.
Favorable fall conditions, meanwhile, allowed for pile burning along Wawona Rd. and the completion of community protection projects.
