Columbia, Ca — Students in the Auto Tech Program at Columbia College will get some hands on experience doing smog checks, thanks to an illegal operation in southern California.
Pursuant to a court order, the Department of Consumer Affairs Automotive Repair Bureau took possession of a BAR 97 analyzer and a dynamometer. The confiscated equipment has since been donated to Columbia College.
Eric Andal with Columbia College says it is a situation where a bad deal (fraudulent smog checks) has turned into a positive. He says the equipment will enhance the current program by allowing it to better train smog check technicians.
The DCA/BAR donates confiscated equipment to schools such as Columbia, when they see a need can be met by giving them items that have become their possession.
