Sonora High School Helps Local Families In Need

Sonora, Ca — Students and staff at Sonora High School are doing their part to make sure children in need have a Happy Holiday Season.

Like past years, teachers and their classes have the opportunity to “Adopt-A-Family.” Director of Student Activities, Steve Southard, says the kids and teachers then provide gifts for the children.

Southard says, “The biggest push is trying to get kids to understand a sense of community, how they can affect a community, and how the community affects them.”

He says the high school has been doing the program for about 20 years. This year the school has adopted 33 families. The school works with a local shelter to find out which families are in need.
