Sonora, Ca — The City of Sonora and Comcast have come to a long term agreement on cable television services in the community.
As part of the terms, Comcast has given indication they will rebuild the current system within the first 3 years. The length of the agreement depends on certain upgrades being completed. If the conditions are met, the agreement could extend for as long as 15 years.
City Administrator Greg Applegate says, “The whole idea is to improve the quality and the quantity of offerings in this technological age.”
There was some debate on the issue. Representatives from the Public Access Channel 8 raised concerns that less money would be available to them under the new agreement. In the end, the agreement was unanimously passed by the council.
In other business, Mayor Hank Russell appointed a new member to the City´s Planning Commission. George Segarini will fill the void of outgoing member Delbert Rotelli.
Rotelli was recognized for his many years of service to the commission. It was noted that five residents had applied for the open seat.
