Columbia, Ca — A Columbia man, who was trying to outrun a C.H.P. officer, drove his 2000 GMC Yukon into a creek this morning.
The accident occurred at 5:30am at Harvard Mine Rd. 35 year old Darrell Knight was clocked as going 73 miles an hour in a 55 mile an hour zone. According to a CHP report, Knight accelerated at a high rate of speed when he saw the officer.
He was reportedly afraid that his vehicle would be impounded if pulled over because he has a suspended license. The vehicle eventually lost control and ended up in the creek.
Although Knight was not injured, the vehicle was totaled in the incident.
