Inyo County, CA — A wildfire last month destroyed 30 homes in Mono County along the eastern Sierra Nevada.
Governor Gavin Newsom, on Tuesday, proclaimed a State of Emergency to help with the cleanup efforts. The emergency proclamation includes provisions for expediting household hazardous waste and debris removal for affected homes and businesses.
The Pack Fire was discovered on November 13 and burned 1,974 acres (cause still under investigation). It was south of Highway 395 in the area of the Inyo National Forest. It was fully contained on December 3. At its peak, 1,800 residents were under evacuation orders or warnings.
The U.S. Small Business Administration has also approved California’s request for financial assistance to impacted community members, making low-interest disaster loans available to homeowners, renters, and businesses affected by the Pack Fire.
