Yosemite National Park, CA — Yosemite Park officials say Tioga Pass along highway 120 is now open.
Yosemite spokesman Scott Gedman says the road opened at 8:00 this morning as scheduled.
Gedman says that even though the road is open, spring conditions still exist in the park. He says there is quite a bit of snow left in the higher elevations and the parks lakes and streams are running very high.
Gedman says that the primary goal now is to clear away the debris left behind from the avalanche mitigation operations near Olmstead Point and clear the roads to the campgrounds.
He says crews are hoping to have the parks visitor facilities open by the 4th of July weekend.
