Sonora, CA – The California Farm Bureau held its board member elections at the 107th California Farm Bureau Annual Meeting in Anaheim this past weekend, with several delegates and officers re-elected, including one from Tuolumne County.
The voting delegates re-elected all three leaders and welcomed five new and seven returning members to the Board of Directors. All will serve two-year terms. From Tuolumne County, Shaun Crook was re-elected as first vice president. He is a real estate broker and vice president of his family’s timber business there. Shannon Douglass was re-elected as president. She is an owner of Douglass Ranch, which raises beef cattle, walnuts, sunflowers, pumpkins, corn, and forage crops in Orland. Ron Peterson was re-elected as second vice president. He is a Stanislaus County cattle rancher and dairy farmer who also grows silage crops and almonds.
One of the new board members is Joey Gonsalves, an almond and walnut farmer in Modesto, who replaced Jake Wenger in serving District 13, representing members in Stanislaus and Tuolumne counties. Gonsalves is a past president and current board member of the Stanislaus County Farm Bureau. He is also a Leadership Farm Bureau alumnus. Jay Mahil of Madera in District 9 (Madera, Mariposa, and Merced counties) was one of the re-elected board members.
Additionally, elected to a one-year term as chair of the Young Farmers & Ranchers State Committee was August D’Amato of Napa. She is a member of the Napa YF&R Committee, a District 17 representative, and serves on the Napa County Farm Bureau Board of Directors. She farms winegrapes.
Delegates also voted that President Douglass and First Vice President Crook serve as delegates at next month’s American Farm Bureau Federation Annual Convention, also in Anaheim.
