Two Men Plead No Contest To Plotting To Kidnap Investment Adviser

Sacramento, CA — Two men accused of plotting to kidnap and threaten an Oregon financial adviser have pleaded no contest to a kidnapping solicitation charge.

Fifty-two-year William Calder of San Diego and 41-year-old Kevin Westman of Sacramento face a year in county jail and probation and sentencing is set for June 30th.

Calder and Westman were charged with planning to kidnap the financial adviser in an attempt to recover money belonging to 19 investors who belonged to an international church.

The investors were required by the church to give up their worldly possessions. Instead they asked the adviser to hide their property in unmarked overseas accounts, but they claimed he embezzled it.
