Prosecutors File Charges Against Man In Giambi Beer Throwing Incident

Oakland, CA — A man who threw a cup of beer on New York Yankees player Jason Giambi has been charged with misdemeanor battery.

A prosecutor in the Alameda County District Attorney´s Office says that Eric Anduri is set to be arraigned June 14th.

Giambi was doused with the beer as he walked back to his dugout after flying out in the eighth inning of a game on May 14th in Oakland between the Yankees and A´s.

He said after the incident that he wasn´t interested in pursuing charges.

But prosecutors, saying they have enough witnesses, decided to go ahead with the charges.

If convicted, Anduri could face a maximum sentence of six months in jail and a two-thousand dollar fine.

The 30-year-old Anduri is the son of Lafayette Mayor Carl Anduri.
