Sonora, CA — The Tuolumne Park and Recreation District and the Tuolumne Band of Me-Wuk Indians are among those being sued over a land swap deal.
Under the terms of the agreement, the district is trading a six-acre railroad easement between Tuolumne and Standard in exchange for an office building in Tuolumne.
The group Friends of Sierra Railroad filed the suit saying the district was required to file an environmental impact study before transferring the land to a non-governmental party.
The group is asking to have the land-swap rescinded until an environmental study is done.
The Me-Wuk plan to build nearly 80 houses, a golf course and a commercial zone on the land.
