Sonora, CA — Sheriff Richard Rogers of the Tuolumne County Sheriff´s Department has some good news for the Board of Supervisors, as well as the community regarding crime statistics.
In a presentation to the board, Rogers said that violent crimes in the county in 2004 were the lowest they have been overall since 2000.
He also said that although there were more children protected last year from illegal drugs, there were less aerial flights, which help to spot marijuana gardens.
Rogers said that since the war in Iraq, there have been limited resources and personnel to assist in drug recovery.
As an overall statistic for 2004, the Sheriff´s department took criminal action against 2,205 people, as well as referrals to juveniles that make up 18.05% of the violations.
