Truckee, CA — Planners of a major housing development in the Martis Valley near Lake Tahoe are running into a legal snag.
A coalition of environmental groups has filed suit in an attempt to block the project, which proposes to build a gated community consisting of more than 700 houses and two golf courses.
The group filed the complaint in Placer County Superior Court, saying the violated state environmental law by approving the Siller Ranch project near Truckee.
The developers say the company has met the requirements of state and county law, while the plaintiffs contend that the project could be damaging to the environment.
