Attorney General Bill Lockyer announced more than 1,200 California library districts, school districts, colleges and universities have started receiving 665,000 free compact discs valued at $9 million from the settlement of a price-fixing lawsuit that also provided consumers $67.4 million in refunds.
Lockyer says music adds great value to our lives, and these CD´s will substantially benefit the children, students, and communities.
The CD´s encompass a wide variety of genres, including pop, hip-hop, rock, jazz, blues, county, Latin, classical, children´s songs and show tunes.
Nationwide, the settlement required the defendants to distribute 5.6 million free CD´s valued at about $77 million.
