A sheriff´s deputy lost his gun, badge, wallet and cellular phone when someone stole a fanny pack from the deputy´s car Monday morning in Stanislaus County .
The theft occurred at a northwest Modesto preschool, where the deputy had gone to drop off his child according to a Modesto Police Department spokesman. Someone smashed a window and grabbed the fanny pack. The deputy´s name was not released. Police are concerned that the thief could use the gun and badge to try to impersonate an officer. This raises concern for the public´s safety as well as the safety of the person pretending to be an officer.
