Salel Superbowl Breakfast A Super Success

The 19th annual Frank Salel Superbowl Breakfast raised up to $20,000 for student scholarships at the Tuolumne County fairgrounds today.

Approximately 1500 people filled the auditorium at the fairgrounds to enjoy some excellent omelettes and to support a good cause.

Organizer Scott Barry says the Rotary sponsored event could not happen every year without the support of a caring community and scores of volunteers.

Barry says the money raised from the ticket sales at the event and from the raffle will help several high school graduates attend a four-year college or vocational school. The eventĀ“s namesake, Frank Salel, hand designed the massive cooking stoves and ovens used at the breakfast. Salel passed away a little over five years ago and was actively involved with efforts to help children.
