The Bush Administration has announced that it is boosting funding to reduce fuels and the threat of wildfire in the nation´s forests.
U.S. Forestry officials say the Administration has proposed spending $867-million in 2005 to implement the Healthy Forests Initiative. The program is focused on thinning trees, brush and ground fuels in the forest near towns. The program was implemented on about 2-million acres of forest land last year.
