Sacramento county officials say there are more state laws to protect elders from abuse, but little extra money to enforce the new laws.
Social workers say they are overwhelmed by their caseloads now that the state increased the county´s role in investigating elder abuse, neglect and exploitation cases. Adult Protective Services across the state are trying to draw attention
to this problem by spotlighting all the cases they investigate during an average 24-hour period.
