A late afternoon fire gutted a doublewide mobile home on Sawmill Flat Road on Friday afternoon.
Tuolumne County fire fighter Craig Hart says fire fighters from the CDF-Tuolumne County, Columbia and Sonora fire departments found the residence fully involved with flames when they arrived on scene at about 5:30. The home´s owner, Marilyn Donne escaped without injury, but her good friend and longtime companion , her dog “Lucky” was killed in the fire.
Hart says the older mobile home was a total loss with damage estimated at $70,000. The cause of the fire has been traced to an electric wall heater. Donne is staying with friends.
