Hazardous Driving In The Mother Lode This Weekend

An inundation of rain in the foothills and heavy snow in the mountains is forecast for this weekend. Downy flakes are expected to fall as low as 2000-feet. Gusty winds are also in the forecast and driving conditions will be hazardous. Sean Comey with AAA of Northern California says motorists need to be aware of the potential for hydroplaning on wet roads. Comey recommends motorists adjust their driving speeds to road conditions. That means slowing down when roads are wet, icy, or snowy. Strong winds blowing snow are expected to reduce visibility for travelers in the high country. Anyone travelling through the Mother Lode and Sierra this weekend is advised to carry chains.
