Blue Mountain Minerals Gains Approval For Merging Plan

Columbia, CA — More than 100 people wearing blue caps at last nights Columbia Area Planning Commission Meeting are celebrating a victory.

Several Blue Mountain Minerals employees, family members and supporters stuck around until 11:00pm to hear the Commissioners approve the request to increase the production limit at its Columbia mine.

The 5-hour meeting allowed for public comment from both sides and opponents say they may appeal the decision.

One woman says she admires the employees´ loyalty to the company, however she feels that the approval will cause problems.

Blue Mountain Minerals President Carrie Haughy says she is happy with the decision and hopes to move forward with the merging of the two quarries.

The approval also means the company can now run its processing plant 24 hours a day.
