CHP Targets Truck-Involved Collisions

Sonora, CA — The California Highway Patrol has kicked off a 15-month $1.7 million enforcement and public awareness campaign targeting truck-involved collisions.

The program will focus on both commercial truck drivers and drivers of passenger vehicles who speed, drive under the influence, or commit other violations that frequently cause accidents involving trucks.

The CHP will also strictly enforce the use of seatbelts and child restraints to reduce the seriousness of injury.

The Commercial Awareness through Traffic Safety and Training (CAST) project goal is to reduce the number of truck-involved collisions.

The grant will fund more than 20,000 hours of officer overtime for additional enforcement patrols statewide.
