Coarrsegold, CA — Local fire crews may be returning home soon after being dispatched to help fight a fire in the Quartz Mountain area.
Officials had originally estimated the blaze to be as big as 1200 acres. CDF spokesman Matt Streck says the 550 acre blaze is 100% contained and Tuolumne and Calaveras crews could be back as soon as late tonight or tomorrow morning.
Streck says there are about 790 personnel on scene and more than 70 engines from locations across the state.
Total containment was achieved at about 6:00 last night and evacuees from two subdivisions were allowed to return to their homes at around 3:00 yesterday afternoon.
