Columbia, CA — More than 100 people who wore blue caps in support of Blue Mountain Minerals at yesterdays Board of Supervisors Meeting are celebrating a victory.
Several Blue Mountain Minerals employees, family members and supporters stayed for the 5-hour meeting to hear the Board approve the request to increase the production limit at its Columbia mine with a 3 to 1 vote.
The meeting allowed for public comment from both sides and opponents say that although they disagree with the Boards decision, they will not take their appeal any further.
Blue Mountain Minerals President Carrie Haughy says she is happy with the decision and hopes to move forward with the merging of the two quarries.
The approval also means the company can now run its processing plant 24 hours a day.
