Police Call National Night Out A Success

Sonora, CA — The Sonora Police Department is calling last night´s National Night Out event a huge success.

Chief Mace McIntosh says about twice the expected number of community members turned out to discuss their concerns about crime in the city´s neighborhoods.

He says a dozen representatives from the Police Department were on hand at Melodie´s restaurant in downtown Sonora talking to people as they got to know each other better.

He says it was a great turn out for being the the first time in Sonora and he´s looking forward to next year.

McIntosh says public concerns ranged from parking issues and traffic to drug use.

He says anyone who wished to ask the Police Department to come out and talk to their neighborhood is encouraged to do so.
